Chartres, France
Illiers-Combray Station
This French train station is located in a town renamed after the famed writer Marcel Proust's fictional name for the village.
Beginning in Rome and making our way up to Florence, our Italian Adventure was full of gorgeous cathedrals, mom and pop shops, delicious pasta, and too many Italian dogs to count.
From historic universities to Americana beauty that feels straight out of a Western, the spots between Camp Fimfo's iconic campgrounds are worthy of your next road trip.
From the shores of Lake Tahoe to the allusive Area 51 and to the majestic Hoover Dam, our Nevada road trip was full of unique signs, historic towns, and a handful of tumbleweeds.
From exploring art museums in Basel, to not lifting a finger at luxurious hotels, and to visiting charming Swiss chalets, our second trip to the Land of Milk and Honey was just as magical as the first.
All aboard! We embark from the end of the world aboard the MS Roald Amundsen on a (shivery) trip of a lifetime!
Over a century ago, Phileas Fogg circumnavigated the globe over 80 trips around the sun. Taking a page out of his whimsical legacy, we found ourselves on a similarly audacious adventure—in Scotland.

Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy
Originally built in the 12th century, the Rifugio Locanda Ospitale Hotel is one of the oldest lodges in Europe located in the Dolomite mountain range in northeastern Italy. Bearing a historic facade, the Hotel is lauded for its beautiful views of surrounding national parks, lakes, and the Passo Cimabanche, a popular high mountain pass.
Also known as Gemarkpass, the pass marks the border between the Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige regions, During the winter months, a small cross-country skiing circuit operates in the area, and when it gets warm, the pass becomes a popular route for cyclists.
From the mountain summit, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is visible, one of the most distinctive peak structures of the Dolomites. Nearby is Strong Point No. 4 (Blockade Cimabanche Pass), a large bunker constructed in the mountainside rocks as part of the Alpine Wall, the defense line built in the Italian Alpines by the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. During its use, the armament consisted of three machine guns.
Since 1992, the hotel has been run by the Alvera family. Aside from skiing, guests can rent bicycles, go horseback riding, hiking, and cycling. If you ask nicely, the owners will provide the key to the fresco-filled 13th century church nestled below the hotel.

Bubbling deep beneath the heart of Budapest—also known as “the city of baths”—is nature’s hot tub: geothermal springs enriched with healing minerals.
The North Mole Lighthouse is one of a pair of "twin" lighthouses found at the entrance to Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia.
A hot-pink confection of Bohemian Neo-Renaissance style, the Hotel Opera stands in the less touristy Nové Město, or “New Town,” quarter of storied Prague.
A one-night stay at the Stanley Hotel sparked the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining.
